IIT Madras’s New Year 2025 gift! Anyone can visit its research labs on January 3, 4

Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has invited the public to visit its research centres and labs on January 3 and 4. The Institute Open House 2025 is a special initiative under the institute’s vision of ‘Annaivarakum IITMadras’; which is organised annually.
IIT Madras’ Open House 2025 initiative is held every year for the general public in order to explore cutting-edge research, pioneering technologies, and a vibrant academic environment, IIT-M said. The public will get to visit over 60 stalls showcasing groundbreaking research, projects, and demos.
Speaking on the initiative, Sathyanarayana N Gummadi, Dean (Students), IIT Madras, said: “This is a unique opportunity for everyone to visit IIT Madras, which the institute is fully supporting to showcase IIT Madras’ advanced laboratories to the general public. I believe this will be an opportunity for all to visit the beautiful campus and motivate the young generation who will be the leaders in the future.”

“IIT Madras is known for creating state-of-the-art teaching and research laboratories from its inception. Under the initiative of “IITM for all” (Anaivarukkum IITM), these labs are made open to everybody to have a first-hand experience of the cutting-edge facilities housed in over 18 departments and 45+ world-class research centres,” the official statement read.
The institute welcomes everyone, including school and college students, professionals and technology enthusiasts, to visit their green campus during this open-house event followed by the annual technical festival of IIT Madras - Shaastra-2025. Interested participants will have to register for the event at the portal,

During the visit, the public will get an opportunity to explore four National Research Centers and as many as 11 Institute Research Centers, as well as witness the innovation underway at 15 Centers of Excellence (CoEs) and over 90 advanced laboratories, the institute said.
The institute added that with over one million website visits and an expected footfall of over 60,000 visitors, this two-day event will happen during the first two days of Shaastra. It will be held over four days and nights from January 3 to 7 2025.
