IIT Kanpur alumnus contributes for new hostel tower

Bhadresh Shah, founder of AIA Engineering signed an agreement with IITK’s director, Manindra Agrawal.
NEW DELHI : The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur), signed an agreement with alumnus Bhadresh Shah, founder of AIA Engineering Limited, for the construction of a new hostel tower. To be constructed in the hall of residence-16 at the institute, the hostel tower will be named in honour of Shah for contributing in his personal capacity and also as a part of AIA Engineering Limited’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) commitment.
The agreement was signed between Shah and Manindra Agrawal, professor and director of IIT Kanpur.
“Extremely honored to share that Bhadresh Shah, Founder and Managing Director of AIA Engineering Limited and distinguished alumnus (BT, MME, 1974), has formalized a generous philanthropic contribution towards the construction of a new hostel tower in Hall of Residence-16, by signing an MoU with Manindra Agrawal, Director IIT Kanpur,” said IITK in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

New hostel project
The new hostel tower construction is a part of the larger Hall of Residence-16 project. The Hall of residence-16 project which comprises six towers embraces modern energy-saving and sustainability concepts. The hostel tower promotes the use of renewable energy through solar panels, energy-efficient fixtures, waste reduction, water conservation, and recycling strategies will be integrated into the construction design.
The event was attended by the other alumni members of IIT Kanpur including – Tushar Chopra (BT, ME, 1974), and his son Abir Chopra, along with professor Amey Karkare, dean of resources and alumni IITK; Kapil Kaul, CEO of IIT Kanpur- development foundation; and Rajat Sharma, vice president- development, IITKDF.
