IIT Jammu launches BTech Engineering Physics with focus on quantum, nano tech; admission via JEE Advanced

BTech Engineering Physics is developed to align with the Indian government’s initiative to lead the semiconductor and quantum technology based industry.
Indian Institute of Technology Jammu (IIT Jammu) has launched a new BTech course in engineering physics for the next generation of innovators and researchers. Admission into BTech in Engineering Physics will be based on the Joint Entrance Examination - Advanced (JEE Advanced 2025) rank.
The course has been developed to align with the Indian government’s initiative to lead the semiconductor and quantum technology based industry. It will majorly cover topics such as semiconductor fabrication, VLSI chip design, photonic and quantum device design, and quantum computing and algorithm design.
The institute highlights that the BTech Engineering Physics graduates will broaden career prospectus in semiconductor manufacturing, chip design, quantum computing, renewable energy, telecommunications, and advanced materials research. They will also gain practical skills like nano-microfabrication and computational materials design which may boost their employability in cutting-edge technology businesses.
It also mentions academics, research, and entrepreneurship as further career prospectus.
IIT Jammu also offers BTech courses in chemical engineering, civil engineering, computer science engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics and computing, materials engineering, and mechanical engineering.

IIT Jammu: BTech in Engineering Physics
Candidates who have qualified JEE Mains and JEE Advanced 2025 will be eligible to apply for admission through JoSAA counselling . The total approved intake for the programme is 25. The topics that will be covered under the BTech Engineering Physics programme are given below.
