IIT Gandhinagar, GEER Foundation to hold mega workshop to address, discuss issues on climate change

IITGN and GEER Foundation to organise 2nd and 3rd segment of a series of workshops, 'Climate Action Now'. Segment 2 begins on January 16.
NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) and Gujarat Ecological Education and Research (GEER) Foundation will be collaborating to organise 'Climate Action Now', a series of workshops on climate change. Segment 1 having been organised already, the second and third segment with a duration of five days each, will be held during January 2023.
The workshop's second segment will be inaugurated on January 16, 2023 while the third segment is scheduled between January 27 and 31, 2023. The workshop series will bring together policymakers, industry, academia and climate experts from across the country to deliberate on issues of climate change and how they can be tackled.

The inauguration ceremony will be held in the presence of Gujarat, forest and environment, additional chief secretary, IAS, Arun Kumar Solanki; Gujarat pollution control board, chairman, RB Barat; Adani Group, Jayant Parimal; IITGN, dean, research and development, Amit Prashant; GEER Foundation, director, RK Sugoor; IITGN, earth sciences, Vikrant Jani and CN Pandey.
The second segment of the workshop series will be focusing on 'climate action and the role of industries.' The segment will discuss the need to adapt strategies that embrace sustainable development and low carbon alternatives and technologies.
The workshop sessions will be facilitating discussions among students, researchers, industry experts and state and non-state actors on enhancing energy efficiency, implementing renewable energy options, expanding green opportunities, and simultaneously addressing various resource limits and environmental implications in the industry sector. The attendees will cover a board range of topics such as waste management in industry, greenhouse gases reduction, energy efficiency, water conservation, circular economy, effluent management among others.
