In IIT Delhi PhD special admission drive for SC, ST candidates, 65 secure seats

IIT Delhi PhD Admissions: 47 SC, 18 ST candidates secure seats against 79 vacancies in PhD courses, 30 students get placed through placement cell.

Download NowIn the special admission drive for PhD programmes for reserved category applicants, 47 Scheduled Caste (SC) and 18 Scheduled Tribe (ST) students secured seats in the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi. While the institute announced 79 vacancies in PhD courses, around 65 students were selected during the drive, IIT D informed during a press conference.
In a bid to address the shortcomings of seat occupancy in doctoral degrees and in line with the recommendations of the Parliamentary committee about measures for the marginalised communities, the IIT announced the special admission drive for SC, ST candidates. The data submitted by IIT Delhi showed less than sanctioned intake, especially at the PhD level. 15% of seats are reserved for the SC students and 7.5% for ST in all the courses.
Such aspirants were allowed to apply for IIT Delhi PhD admissions 2025 by June 30 this year. The institute invited applications from those fulfilling the minimum eligibility criteria for PhD degrees .
The institute also informed that 30 PhD students were placed through the placement cell in the academic year 2024-25. However, more PhD students have been placed through their guides and professors, it added.
On August 2, IIT Delhi will be conducting its 56th convocation with 2,700 students graduating, including 530 PhDs.
