IIT, AIIMS Jodhpur organises biodesign bootcamp

Speakers Stanford University, introduced IIT and AIIMS Jodhpur faculty to various processes in biodesign.
NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur, or IIT Jodhpur, organised a bootcamp in biodesign in collaboration with All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS Jodhpur) Stanford Byers Center for Biodesign and Jodhpur City Knowledge and Innovation Cluster (JCKIC) at Jodhpur Club on its campus.
The bootcamp was part of the academic and training program in medical technologies introduced by the IIT Jodhpur in partnership with AIIMS Jodhpur in July 2020.

As part of the camp, doctors and engineers were co-mentored by a team at IIT Jodhpur and AIIMS Jodhpur, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders. The programme aimed at building an ecosystem that would foster multidisciplinary deep-tech entrepreneurship in healthcare.
Anurag Mairal, director of global outreach programmes of Stanford Byers Center for Biodesign, Stanford University, and Ayesha Chaudhary, advisor at Stanford University, introduced faculty members and students from AIIMS and IIT Jodhpur to the processes in biodesign.

An official press release read that the camp aimed to create a common platform for physicians and engineers to validate real-world medical needs, invent new health technology products and plan for their implementation into healthcare.
Mairal said, “I was impressed by the interdisciplinary nature of training at IIT Jodhpur. Faculty participants from IIT and AIIMS were open and enthusiastic about learning the biodesign process and working together as part of the joint programs in MedTech. “
Santanu Chaudhury, Director, IIT Jodhpur in his address to the participants, highlighted the importance of the biodesign process and philosophy of entrepreneurship and how it is encapsulated within this Medical Technologies academic programs.
