IISc Bengaluru to admit BTech students through JoSAA counselling 2026 using JEE Advanced ranks

Download NowFrom this year onwards, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru will start admitting BTech aspirants through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling 2026 using Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced ranks. IIT Roorkee will hold JEE Advanced 2026 on May 17.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee will hold the JEE Advanced 2026 exam for two papers: Paper 1 from 9 am to 12 pm, and Paper 2 from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.
Last year, a total of 2,50,236 candidates qualified for the JEE Advanced exams.
JoSAA counselling is a centralised, online seat allocation process set up by the ministry of education for admissions to 127 premier engineering institutes. This included 23 IITs, 31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs, and 47+ GFTIs.
Recently, IISc Bengaluru retained its position as India's top performer in Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject 2026. In the computer science branch, the institute was at 96th rank globally, remaining India’s highest-ranked institution. Notably, as per the NIRF ranking, IISc Bengaluru was ranked at the 2nd position under the overall category.
Until last year, the IISc Bengaluru admitted students through its own admission process using the JEE Advanced scores, and students had to appear in-person to confirm BTech admissions. However, now IISc Bengaluru will accept BTech admissions through the JoSAA counselling process 2026, which is scheduled to begin on June 2.
