IIM Jammu organises management development programme for NTPC young leaders

NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu, is organising a trekking-based Management Development Programme (MDP) for Northern Thermal Power Corporation’s (NTPC) young leaders from January 20 to 23.
The IIM Jammu-led MDP is designed to increase leadership skills through experiential learning through trekking and other activities in the lower Himalayas. The programme features seven curated sessions which are aimed at fostering personal and professional growth, the institute said.
The welcome note was delivered by Anuja Akhouri, programme chair of IIM Jammu, where she outlined the programme’s objectives and its alignment with NTPC’s leadership vision.
Highlighting the importance of the ongoing programme, BS Sahay, director at IIM Jammu, encouraged participants to leverage the program to gain transformative insights that not only benefit individuals and their organizations but also contribute to nation-building.
The inauguration commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony by the director, the institute added.

The programme includes field-based experiential learning activities such as trekking in the lower Himalayas, empowering leadership, team building, sustainability and good governance, conflict resolution, negotiating solutions, intrapreneurship skills, strategic thinking, mastering communication for leadership, and digital transformation.
Further talking about the programme, Sahay emphasised the significance of lifelong learning, self-reliance, and continuous growth, encouraging participants to explore opportunities for academic and professional development. He also stressed the value of pursuing higher studies, stating that such learning is never wasted.
According to the official press release, the co-chairperson of executive education and consultancy at IIM Jammu, Pratik Maheshwari, emphasised the innovative integration of trekking as a tool for leadership development.
