The CAT exam pattern this year saw changes with an increase in the number of questions from 66 to 68 and absence of parajumbles in the VARC section. The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta held the exam in 170 cities for 3.29 lakh candidates.
CAT 2024 question paper consisted of three sections – Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Quantitative Ability (QA). The CAT exam timings were 8:30 am to 10:30 am, 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm, and 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Candidates were allotted 40 minutes to attempt each section.
As per the CAT 2024 marking scheme, candidates will be awarded three marks for each correct answer. There will be negative marking in the objective-type questions. Since the exam was held in multiple shifts, raw scores of candidates will be normalised and converted into scaled scores.
Through CAT 2024, IIMs and participating B-schools will admit students to their management programmes.
