IGNOU launches Postgraduate Diploma in Sindhi-Hindi-Sindhi translation

IGNOU’s School of Translation Studies and Training launched the PGDSHST programme on International Mother Language Day
NEW DELHI: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has launched the PG Diploma in Sindhi-Hindi-Sindhi Translation (PGDSHST) programme during the occasion of International Mother Language Day. The programme PGDSHST programme was launched in an online function organised by IGNOU’s School of Translation Studies and Training (SOTST) and the Sindhi Chair housed in the school.
Nageswara Rao, IGNOU vice-chancellor launched the PG Diploma in Sindhi Hindi Sindhi Translation during the online function. In his speech, he pointed out the relevance of mother languages and IGNOU’s intention and efforts to support mother languages. Sumitra Kukreti, PVC, IGNOU talked about various languages across the globe that are facing threats and stressed that preserving such languages is important.

According to Ravi Prakash Tekchandani, who is a dean at the Delhi University, the IGNOU PG Diploma in Sindhi-Hindi-Sindhi Translation will help non-Sindhi people to learn Sindhi language and literature.
Hasso Dadlani, retired principal of the Govt. College, Ajmer said that increasing awareness about Indian languages is important. He appreciated IGNOU University for promoting the Sindhi language by launching the new programme.

A ‘Sindhi Chair’ was established in IGNOU’s School of Translation Studies and Training National Council for Promotion of Sindhi Language (NCPSL), ministry of human resource development for promoting Sindhi language, literature and culture.
