IGNOU launches Master of Arts (Jyotish) programme through open distance learning mode.
NEW DELHI: Indira Gandhi National Open University’s (IGNOU) School of Humanities has launched a new master's programme in Astrology. As per the IGNOU official notification, the MA in Jyotish programme is offered through open distance learning (ODL) mode.

Candidates who wish to apply for admission to the Master of Arts degree (Jyotish) can register through the official admission portal. However, candidates should check if they fit the required eligibility criteria before starting the admission process.
The eligibility criteria set by the university for Master of Arts (Jyotish) states that candidates at least must have a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
The Master of Arts (Jyotish) is a two-year programme which will be taught in Hindi. The total fee that a candidate will have to pay to study this postgraduate programme is Rs. 12,600.
As per the IGNOU officials notification, “The Master of Arts degree (Jyotish) programme focuses on providing students practical knowledge of various parts of Jyotish involving planetary movements, solar eclipses, lunar eclipses and events in space based on Jyotish developed over ages by Indian sages.”
Through the study material, students will be provided with complete knowledge of Jyotish (Astrology) along with providing specialized knowledge of the concept of astrological mathematics, theory and results in ancient India.
