IGNOU extends registration deadline for PhD admissions till November 25

IGNOU PhD Admission 2025: Candidates who possess a valid UGC NET score with JRF or a valid UGC NET score for the year 2024 are eligible to apply.
NEW DELHI: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has extended the registration deadline for PhD programme till November 25. Interested candidates can register for IGNOU PhD admission 2025 through the official website at ignouadm.samarth.edu.in.
Candidates who possess a valid UGC NET score with JRF or a valid UGC NET score for the year 2024 are eligible to apply for PhD admission, as outlined in the University Grants Commission’s (UGC) Regulations on Minimum Standards and Procedures. The application fee to register for IGNOU PhD admission 2025 is Rs 1,000.
IGNOU will reserve five percent of the total seats for Persons with Disabilities who have a disability of at least 40 percent. However, these candidates will not be included in the category they belong to (General/SC/ST/OBC/EWS) for seat allocation.
IGNOU PhD Admission 2025: Selection process
The process includes the preparation of a combined merit list of candidates with valid UGC NET scores and JRF (Junior Research Fellowship). This list will form the final merit list for admission.
- 5% of seats are reserved for Persons with Disabilities (PWD) with at least 40% disability.
- Candidates with valid UGC NET with JRF will be invited for an interview, which will carry 100% weightagein the selection process.
- Candidates under categories 2 and 3 (with valid UGC NET scores) will also be assessed through the interview, which holds significant weight for their selection.
“The JRF-qualified students are admitted into the PhD programme based on an interview as per the University Grants Commission. The Candidates with valid UGC NET with JRF will be called for interview and the interview shall carry 100 per cent weightage,” the official website read.
