Hyderabad University Election Result 2024: Left alliance wins president post; ‘HCU bhi laal hain’, SFI rejoice

Hyderabad University Students’ Union Election 2024: Triveni, who was contesting for the joint-secretary post, got the highest of 1,435 votes.
NEW DELHI: University of Hyderabad (UoH) students’ union election 2024 results have been declared. Umesh Ambedkar from the left-wing students’ group won the president’s post by bagging a total of 1,313 votes. Umesh Ambedkar represents a coalition of Students' Federation of India (SFI), Ambedkar Students' Association (ASA), Dalit Students' Union (DSU), and Bahujan Students' Front (BSF).
Akash Bhati, a research scholar in management studies and former secretary of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), contested in the UoH students’ election as an independent candidate and lost to Umesh Ambedkar by a narrow margin of 18 votes.
"This victory symbolises the appreciation and belief which the students have for the forces which strive for social justice going beyond communal politics. We extend our revolutionary greetings to HCU's newly elected leadership and student body for their victory over communal, anti-student, and divisive politics," the SFI-ASA-BSF-DSU panel said.
As per the UoH election results 2024, Akash Kumar was elected as the vice-president and Nihad Sulaiman won highest votes in the general secretary post. Triveni, who was contesting for the joint-secretary post, got the highest of 1,435 votes in the Hyderabad University students’ union election 2024.

The sport secretary post will be filled by Mangpi who received 1,234 votes in the students’ poll, the university informed.
Students at the university started voting on October 25 from 9 am and the whole process was completed by 5.30 pm. Following this, counting of votes started yesterday at 9 am and the results were declared.
The students’ union elections 2024 was held for president, vice-president, general secretary, joint secretary, cultural secretary, sports secretary, ICC - Integrated, PG and Research, school councillors - from respective schools, and School Board members PG and Research.
“The purpose of the Students' Union elections is to give students an opportunity to develop leadership by organization and carrying out academic activities and service projects. In addition to planning events that contribute to univeristy spirit and community welfare, the student union is the voice of the student body. they help to share student ideas, interests and concerns with the school vide community. Students Union Elections in all the universities of the country are held strictly according to the Lyngdoh committee recommendations,” the university said.
