Download EBookNEW DELHI: The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board will be conducting the Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GUJCET 2024) for admission to engineering and pharmacy courses. Over 1.37 lakh students will be appearing for the state-level entrance exam on March 31.

The Gujarat Board announced that a total of 1,37,799 candidates have registered to appear for the GUJCET exam 2024. Of which, 75,558 are boys and 62,241 are girl candidates.
Reports also suggest that the state government is mulling over replacing GUJCET with national-level Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) from the academic year 2025. GUJCET score has 40% weightage in the admission process and 60% weightage is given to Class 12 performance.
The GUJCET exam will be conducted at 34 examination centres, for which 673 examination venues in the buildings will be used. Special security measures like installing CCTV cameras have also been implemented to prevent malpractices and use of unfair means in the exam, the action plan notified by the board read.
The exam will be held in pen and paper mode for a duration of 3 hours. Physics and chemistry will be allotted 120 minutes and 60 minutes for mathematics. The medium of the question paper will be English, Hindi, and Gujarati.
All the three sections will have 40 questions each. One mark will be awarded for every correct response and 0.25 marks will be deducted for every incorrect response, as per the marking scheme.

The data shared by the board showed that the highest number of 1,19,494 students from Gujarat Board and 15,558 students from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will be appearing in the exam.
