Gujarat forms panel to decide on reopening schools for primary classes after Diwali vacation

Gujarat primary schools for Classes 1 to 5 are likely to reopen this month soon after the Diwali vacation, according to a report.
NEW DELHI: Gujarat government is likely to reopen schools for primary classes after the Diwali vacation. The state education minister Jitu Vaghani said a committee has been formed to decide on resuming physical classes for students in the state.
The education minister said, “A committee of experts has been formed to decide on reopening Classes 1 to 5 simultaneously. Appropriate decisions will be made in the interest of the students.”
“Gujarat primary classes are likely to reopen this month soon after the Diwali vacation,” sources told the Times of India .

Recently, the state government announced that Gujarat Class 10 students who have passed with grace marks can seek admission for diploma courses at polytechnic institutes.
The announcement was made as a rule framed by the state Education Department in 2016 had barred students passed with grace marks from seeking admission to polytechnic diploma courses in the state.
Gujarat Class 10 students were promoted as the board exams were cancelled this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
While talking about reopening primary schools for Classes 1 to 5 in the state, he had told PTI that the final decision will be taken "very soon" after consulting experts.
