GATE answer key 2025 challenge closes today; how will IIT Roorkee calculate marks, cut-offs?

Download NowNEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) will close the GATE answer key challenge window 2025 today. The GATE results 2025, which will be used for admissions to MTech and doctoral programmes in arts and science, will be declared on March 19 based on the final answer key.
Candidates who wrote the exam will be able to download the GATE response sheet , question paper, and provisional answer key from the official website, gate2025.iitr.ac.in. The exam was conducted in multiple shifts on February 1, 2, and 15 and 16. The forenoon session was held from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm and the afternoon session from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm.
The GATE exam 2025 was conducted for a total of 30 papers. Candidates were also permitted to choose from the allowed two-paper combination. The answer key and response sheet can be used as a GATE marks calculator to know the probable score. Candidates will have to match the question in the "Master Question Paper" with the jumbled questions appeared in your exam console.
After the GATE answer key challenge window is closed, the objections will be reviewed by the subject experts and the final answer key will be prepared. The GATE scorecards will be hosted on the official website, free of cost, from March 28 to May 31.
The institute will also provide the soft copy of the GATE scorecard after May 31 till December 31, provided candidates pay a fee of Rs 500 per test paper. However, this provision will not be available from January 1, 2026.

GATE score is used for those seeking admission, financial assistance to pursue higher studies, or employment. Institutions will use the GATE marks vs rank for the following.
- Master’s programmes and direct doctoral programmes in engineering, technology, architecture and
- Doctoral programmes in relevant branches of arts and science, in the institutions supported by the ministry of education and other government agencies.
- GATE qualification is mandatory for some colleges which admit students without a scholarship or assistantship.
- Many Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) will be using the GATE score in their recruitment process.
GATE marks calculator
IIT Roorkee conducted GATE 2025 for 30 papers - some of them were conducted in a single shift, while some paper in multiple sessions. For all papers held in one session, the raw marks obtained by each candidate will be used to calculate the score.

For all papers, which were administered in multiple shifts, the marks obtained by candidates will be normalised before declaring the results.
