Download NowNEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has announced the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025 result. Engineering aspirants who qualified the GATE 2025 exam will now proceed to the counselling and admission process for Master of Technology (MTech) and other postgraduate engineering programmes. GATE score is a key requirement to get admission into Master of Technology (MTech) and other postgraduate programmes at Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other participating colleges. Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) and Centralised Counselling for MTech/MArch/MPlan (CCMT) are two platforms through which the GATE counselling will be conducted.
While COAP is conducted for admission to IITs and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), CCMT conducts GATE counselling for admission to NITs, Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and Government-Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs). Engineering aspirants seeking admission to IITs must register on the COAP official website while those seeking admission to NITs and IIITs need to participate in CCMT counselling. GATE 2025 exam was conducted on February 1, 2, 15, and 16 in two shifts.
The GATE counselling includes registration followed by selecting and locking in preferred institutes and courses. Engineering aspirants can register for the GATE counselling by visiting official websites of respective portals i.e. COAP or CCMT. Seat allotments are distributed in successive rounds based on GATE scores. Once allocated, candidates will have to complete verification of documents and pay the admission fee to secure their seat.
GATE Counselling 2025: COAP eligibility criteria
Candidates who want to register at the COAP portal for GATE counselling 2025 will have to meet the following eligibility criteria.
- Candidates should have a valid GATE score from 2022, 2023, 2024, or 2025 to register at the COAP portal.
- Candidates with multiple valid GATE scores must enter the highest score during registration while providing details of other scores.

GATE Counselling Process 2025: CCMT eligibility criteria
Candidates will have to meet the following criteria, GATE counselling through the CCMT portal.
- A valid GATE score from 2022, 2023, 2024, or 2025 is required.
- Candidates should have a minimum score of 6.5 CGPA (on a 10-point scale) or 60% in their qualifying degree, while reserved category candidates should have at least 6.0 CGPA or 55%.
In addition to COAP and CCMT, certain institutions such as IIIT Hyderabad, Jadavpur University, and private universities conduct their admission processes for MTech programmes. While GATE counselling primarily facilitates PG admissions, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) like Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), and Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) also use GATE scores for recruitment.
