GATE 2024: IISc to assign new exam centres in Bareilly for candidates allotted Haldwani

Download NowNEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Science Bengaluru (IISc) has informed candidates who have been allotted the GATE 2024 exam centre in Haldwani that they will be assigned to new centres in Bareilly. The announcement comes as a curfew has been imposed in the Uttarakhand town after violence over madrassa demolition claimed 2 lives.
GATE 2024 second week exams are scheduled to take place on February 10 and 11 at various exam centres across the country. Candidates have taken to social media for an update on GATE 2024 February 10 exam and asked “whether it is postponed?”
An aspirant took to X and asked: “What is the status of GATE exam scheduled to be held tomorrow (10th February, 2024) in Haldwani, keeping in mind the ongoing curfew situation in the area. Whether it will be postponed or proceed as planned? Pls provide us with official info. about this.”
Replying to the query, the GATE officials said that it has been working with the concerned authorities and will communicate the plan shortly.
“Given the current situation in Haldwani, GATE 2024 candidates in sessions S5 and S6 (February 10, 2024) assigned to the following test centres,” it said.

“The students will be assigned to new centres in Bareilly. The details of the new exam centres in Bareilly will be made available shortly,” the officials informed.
The changes were announced after two people were killed and three critically injured in violence that broke out over the demolition of an illegally-built madrasa and a place for offering namaz inside its premises in Haldwani. The officials have also issued shoot-at-sight orders as well.
