The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has announced the GATE 2021 exam dates. IIT Bombay Director and chairman of GATE 2021, Deepankar Chaudhary has announced that GATE 2021 exam will be conducted on February 5 to 7 and 12 to 14.
GATE 2021 organising team led by Deepankar Choudhury, Upendra Bhandarkar and Mohd. Aslam of IIT Bombay has also announced new changes in eligibility criteria and addition of two new subjects.
GATE 2021 new subjects
GATE 2021 will also have two new subjects - Environmental Science and Engineering (ES) and Humanities and Social Science (XS). The addition of two new subjects in GATE 2021 have made the total subjects to 27. The addition of Humanities and Social Science paper will give opportunities to students from arts and humanities background to appear in GATE exam.
As per the IIT Bombay circular for GATE 2021, candidates can also opt for up to two subject papers from a prescribed set of combinations that the exam calendar would permit. This would boost the opportunity to study in inter-disciplinary areas.
GATE 2021 Eligibility Criteria
There will also be relaxation in minimum eligibility for applying to GATE 2021 due to Covid-19 situation. As per the announcement, candidates in their third year of undergraduate degree will be eligible for GATE 2021.
GATE 2021 Registration
GATE 2021 form fill up date has not been announced yet. Candidates can however expect GATE 2021 registration to start from August last week or September first week.
