Future of education will be virtual universities: Narendra Modi

The prime minister, Narendra Modi, was speaking at Tezpur University’s eighteenth convocation.
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the future of education will be virtual universities.
PM Modi, addressing the eighteenth convocation of Tezpur University, said that new technological interventions are happening across the globe and in India as well so it is possible that in future universities will be completely virtual. “In which students and faculty members from all over the world will be able to participate virtually,” he said.
Modi said: “There are regulations needed to create such universities. He said that the new National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 looks in that direction.”
“The NEP it emphasises on data analytics which will be used for various purposes including admission and teaching,” Modi said.
Prime minister also lauded various innovative efforts Tezpur University and its students have made which is being implemented in other parts of the country. He also urged students to do more innovation which would take India ahead.
Ahead of PM’s address, Congress state President Ripun Bora yesterday attacked BJP and Centre for abolishing North East Industrial and Investment Promotion Policy, which created hurdles in the way of industrial development of Assam. The state will go to the polls in April-May as the five-year term of the current Assam Assembly ends on May 31.
