Education ministry to observe Literacy Week in KVs, NVs, CBSE schools from September 1 to 8

The union government wants to spread awareness about ULLAS: Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram by celebrating the Literacy Week.
NEW DELHI: The union government has decided to organise literacy week from September 1 to 8 to commemorate the International Literacy Day for generating awareness among all the stakeholders, beneficiaries and citizens about the ‘ULLAS- Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram’.
The campaign aims at mass participation of people to inculcate a sense of sense of duty and public participation. Several activities will be organised during the week. The celebration will end on the International Literacy Day on September 8.

The campaign also aims to increase the number of registrations for learners and volunteers on the Understanding of Lifelong Learning for All in Society (ULLAS) mobile application. Students of government and government aided schools, Central Board of School Education (CBSE) affiliated schools, Navodaya Vidyalayas, Kendriya Vidyalayas, teacher training institutions under NCTE, higher educational institutes under a university or All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), scouts and guides, NCC, NSS volunteers, anganwadi workers, Gram Panchayats,and others will be participated in the campaign.
The ULLAS- Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram for all adult education has five components, namely -- foundational literacy and numeracy, critical life skills, basic education, vocational skills and Continuing Education. The ULLAS- Nav Bharat Saksharta Karyakram was launched by the union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan on July 29 in New Delhi during the celebration of 3rd anniversary of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
