Download NowNEW DELHI: The University of Delhi vice-chancellor Yogesh Singh inaugurated the construction work of “Pragyan Bhawan”, to be built at a cost of Rs 29.73 crore. The eight-storey building will come up in the back lawn of the Delhi School of Economics and Geography department, which is located near FMS.
The vice-chancellor inaugurated the construction work by unveiling the plaque for the building and breaking a coconut and said that the construction will be completed in about 24 months.
Yogesh Singh said that the expansion work is being done keeping in mind the current number of students enrolled in the central university and also due to lack of building facilities.
“With the construction of this new building, while the seating arrangements for studies will be expanded, modern level infrastructural facilities will also be available to the students,” the university said.
The building is being constructed in an 8,04,100 square meter plot area and the estimated project cost is Rs 29.73 crore.
“It will have One block named “Pragyan Bhawan” whose building will have seven floors in addition to the ground floor. The total built up area (including mumty and machine room) of this building will be 4,600 square meters including UGT pump room area of 187.0 square meters,” it said.
It will have a total of 17 rooms including 9 class rooms and 8 tutorial rooms. “The maximum height of this building (including the machine room) will be 36.8 meters. Keeping in mind every facility, there will be 2 lifts in this building. Provision for VRV centralized air conditioning system, UPS system, solar panel system and Gas based fire suppression system will also be made,” it added.
