NEW DELHI: Delhi schools, colleges reopened today, February 7, owing to a drop in Covid-19 cases in the national capital. Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Monday visited schools and informed that more than 95% of government school students and around 50% of private school students have been vaccinated with the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine.
He said there is no such criteria that only vaccinated students will be allowed to enter schools, ANI reported. Teachers, however, have to be vaccinated, he added.
For Class 9 and above, 60-70% of students can be called to schools depending on the school's adequate infrastructure and parents' permission, but online classes will continue for some time, Manish Sisodia said. Delhi schools for nursery to Class 8 will be open on February 14.
Delhi education minister Manish Sisodia today interacted with students at Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya, Delhi Cantt, as schools for Class 9 to 12 reopened in the national capital today.

Schools in Delhi were briefly reopened before being closed again on December 28 last year in view of the third wave of COVID-19 driven by the Omicron variant.
The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) had on Friday decided to reopen higher education institutions and coaching centres from February 7. The panel also decided to resume classes from nursery to Class 8 from February 14.
As per the modified school reopening guidelines released by the Centre, it is up to the state governments to decide whether parents consent is mandatory to send students to school.
