Try NowNEW DELHI: CUET UG 2024 candidates have been awaiting results for nearly a month now. The National Testing Agency (NTA), which was scheduled to announce results by June 30, had to postpone the date due to retest and answer key challenge process. The delay in declaring the CUET UG results 2024 have caused stress and anxiety among lakhs of students and uncertainty among the participating universities as it has disrupted the academic calendar for freshers.
The NTA has reportedly announced that it will declare the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET UG 2024) results by June 30, however, due to discrepancies in the final answer key, a retest was held on July 19. The NTA issued the revised final answer key yesterday.
Over 13.48 lakh candidates seeking UG admission in central universities, state universities, and other participating institutes took the CUET UG exam between May 15 to 29. The exam was held in hybrid mode in 379 cities including 26 cities outside India.
The pen-and paper mode exam was held on May 15, 16, 17, 18 and 29 and the computer-based test (CBT) and offline exam was administered on May 21, 22, 24 and 29. The last CUET retest was conducted on July 19 for 1,000 students.
As per the CUET revised answer key 2024, a total of 404 questions have been dropped from the offline exam and 59 questions have been dropped in online paper. For each correct answer, candidates will be awarded 5 marks and one mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer.
Students worried over delay in CUET results
Sharing the final answer key link, an X user posted: “Meanwhile the private universities are completing their admission process. Many students have gone there after having waited for the CUET results for more than a month and losing hope.”
A CUET candidate tagged the Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan and asked: “Sir by when are the CUET UG results coming out? The entire system is turning out to be a big farce, and the kids are the lab rats.”
Another Twitter user said that the CUET result delay has caused a bigger admission crisis than the COVID-19 pandemic. Bharti Shahi wrote: “This time delay in UG session 2024-25 specially via CUET is going to set a landmark surpassing even (worse than) corona sessions. Cuet UG /PG is nothing but a joke with our education system. Now the time has come that this mode of entrance test should be abolished. Save education, save students.”
Jamia Millia Islamia is mulling to chalk out an alternate strategy to hold UG admissions this year due the delay in declaring CUET results. The Delhi University teachers have also appealed to the vice-chancellor to opt out of CUET UG.
