CUET UG 2022 records 76% attendance: 58,909 candidates missed allotted slots in phase 1

Try NowNEW DELHI: The phase 1 of the first-ever Common University Entrance Test (CUET 2022) for undergraduate admission in central universities was concluded on July 20, 2022. CUET UG 2022 phase 1 recorded 76.48% attendance. However, 58,909 candidates missed allotted slots in Phase 1.
Of the 2,50,495 candidates allotted slots in CUET 2022 phase one, a total of 1,91,586 appeared in the exam, as per reports. The UGC Chairman Jagadesh Kumar had earlier informed that nearly 8 lakh 10 thousand students will appear in phase 1 and 6 lakh 80 thousand students in phase 2.

The maximum number of candidates who appeared for the CUET exam 2022 were from Uttar Pradesh (49,915), followed by Bihar (20,840), Madhya Pradesh (19,032), Delhi (16,885) and Rajasthan (14,982), as per the NTA data.
Meghalaya recorded lowest attendance and so did many northeastern states. Only 36 of the 319 students allotted slots appeared in the CUET 2022 exam in Meghalaya.
Karnataka recorded minimum attendance of 50%, and Andhra Pradesh recorded maximum attendance at 70% in the southern states.
The first phase of the CUET 2022 exam was held between July 15 and July 20. The National Testing Agency (NTA) did not conduct the exam on July 17 due to the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG 2022).

The NTA had earlier announced that candidates who have opted for physics, chemistry or biology have been taken to CUET 2022 Phase II. CUET UG 2022 phase 2 will be held from August 4. Candidates will be able to download CUET 2022 admit card for phase 2 on the official website, cuet.samarth.ac.in, on July 31. The NTA had also claimed that more than 14.9 lakh candidates will write the CUET exam, making it the second largest national entrance exam after NEET 2022.
