NEW DELHI: Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) Delhi region started online live classes for Class 6 to 8 from April 13.
Online live classes for Classes 9 to 12 are already running on Facebook and YouTube channels.
"Students and parents have enthusiastically taken to these online classes. Video classes received approximately 90,000 views and 40,000 comments within two days of the session going live. The YouTube channel of KVS Delhi region now has 13343 subscribers," said a statement issued by the KVS.
The process
KVS had selected a team of teachers across streams and classes to begin these interactive classes.
“A timetable was made for all subjects and shared with the students through WhatsApp school groups and YouTube,” said a statement issued by the KVS.
The principals of KVS Delhi region were given specific instructions and details regarding these live classes. The principal then shared these instructions with the teachers and students of the school.
Class and subject-wise playlist has been created on YouTube for the students to view these lessons.
Teachers prepare lessons for online classes using software like PowerPoint, movie makers and screen recorders. These video-based lectures are then uploaded on a dedicated YouTube channel.
Teachers also prepare questions for homework, assignments and send them to the students using apps and software like Google Form, Kahoot.com (for MCQ), Hot potatoes and Quizzes.com.
The assignments for students are made less time consuming, yet challenging.
The KVS embraced online teaching in line with directions of the human resource development ministry to ensure that students do not suffer any academic loss during the lockdown period.
