Coronavirus: UP shuts schools, cancels all exams till April 2

NEW DELHI: Uttar Pradesh has reportedly cancelled all examinations, including competitive exams, in the state till April 2 in a bit to contain the spread of novel coronavirus and COVID-19, the disease it causes.
State education minister Shrikant Sharma told the press on Tuesday: “Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed that all schools, colleges and educational institutes will remain closed till April 2.” The Press Trust of India report further says that competitive and other examinations have been postponed till April 2 as well .
Later, a statement was issued saying: "The Yogi government also ordered postponement of all types of examinations, including competitive examinations, till April 2, while ordering all educational institutions to be closed till April 2."
District magistrates have been asked to spread awareness through posters and banners as well.
Uttar Pradesh had earlier shut educational institutions from March 13 to 22. The extension of the lockdown comes after the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus infections rose to 126 across the country on March 17. Uttar Pradesh alone has 13 cases.
