Coronavirus: Kerala youth studying in China tested positive, says Govt

NEW DELHI: The Centre Government on January 30 confirmed that one positive case of a Novel-Coronavirus patient has been reported in Kerala.
The patient is a student of Wuhan University in China, said the statement. The city is the epicentre of the of coronavirus outbreak that has already claimed 170 lives and affected over 7,700 according to The New York Times .
“The patient has tested positive for Novel Coronavirus and is in isolation in the hospital,” said the PIB statement on Thursday. “The patient is stable and is being closely monitored.”
The Centre also put out and advisory for travellers from China. It tells those who have travelled to China in the past 14 days or had “possible contact” with an infected person to stay at home in isolation for a fortnight after returning, to sleep in a separate room, limit contact with other family members and avoid visitors, maintain general hygiene and “maintain a distance of at least one metre” from anyone displaying cold or flu-like symptoms.
