Jadavpur University announces phase-wise campus reopening plan: Report

In the first phase, all PhD and MPhil students will be called to the campus. Classes for PG first year students of the engineering department will also resume.
NEW DELHI: Jadavpur University has announced that it will call students back to campus in a phased manner from November 16. “The respective faculty will decide who they will call in each phase as the campus reopens for in-person classes,” the Telegraph India reported.

In a meeting with the student representatives, the university decided that one year from undergraduate and postgraduate each will be called to the university and the respective departments can decide which year students should attend offline classes, a JU official said, as per the report.
In the first phase, all PhD and MPhil students will be called to the campus. Physical classes for postgraduate first year students of the engineering department will also resume in this phase.
Other departments will decide whether to call the PG second year students or not. Decision on resuming offline classes for BTech first year students will be made after considering their vaccination status.

The UG second, third and fourth will continue to have their classes in online mode until the exam which is scheduled in December, the report added.
The report further quoted Parthapratim Roy, an associate professor of the physics department, who said, “Theory and practical classes for those being called will be carried out following Covid protocol. Details will be worked out soon.”
