NEW DELHI : Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Certified Management Accountant (CMA) are the most preferred finance programmes among women while there has been a 5% year-on-year increase in female enrollment in finance education, a study has revealed.
A learning platform for finance and accounting, Zell Education found a significant rise in the number of females pursuing professional courses in the field of finance, showing a strong gender inclusivity.
As per the report, females account for 35% of the batch of students in finance courses while the counterpart holds a 65% of the total participation. The study has revealed a notable increase in interest in investment banking among women candidates.
Moreover, 40% of female students enrolled in finance courses are working professionals while 60% are fresh graduates, the report showed, “indicating that both new and experienced professionals see value in upskilling within finance.”
Career in finance
There has also been a geographical shift in female participation in these courses. While the maximum female student enrollments are still emerging from metro cities, the study saw a noticeable rise in registrations from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. This points towards increasing accessibility and rising awareness of a career in finance among small town students.
Speaking on the report, Pratham Barot, CEO and Co- Founder, Zell Education said, "The steady rise in women’s enrollment in CFA and CMA programs is an encouraging trend. It not only reflects their growing interest in finance careers but also signals a shift toward a more diverse financial workforce. We anticipate even greater participation from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities in the coming years, particularly in short-term certification programs that allow professionals to enhance their skills while working."
