CLAT 2021 exam pattern: Descriptive section makes a comeback in PG exams

The last session, the descriptive section was dropped and CLAT PG included only objective-type questions.
NEW DELHI : The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has made some key changes to the CLAT PG exam pattern. This includes bringing back the descriptive section, reducing the number of objective questions and introducing cutoff marks for the objective section.
The CLAT PG question paper will now have 100 objective-type questions, down from 120 in the last session. In its place, two essay-type questions (objective-section) each worth 25 marks have been added. The answer for an essay-type question must not exceed 800 words.
Note that the descriptive section will be evaluated only if the candidate manages to secure 40% (35% in case of SC, ST, and PWD) marks in the objective section. This means those who fail to qualify in the objective paper, they will be automatically disqualified from the CLAT 2021 PG admission process.
The following abilities will be tested by the descriptive section:
-
The candidates’ awareness of legal, factual and philosophical topics relating to the topic at hand.
-
The ability to provide arguments in favour of the answer, which is cogent and provides perspectives.
