The portal will host applications of Indian Council of Medical Research, University Grants Commission (UGC) and AICTE soon.
NEW DELHI: The Union minister of science and technology Jitendra Singh launched the common fellowship portal for doctoral and post-doctoral students. The centralized-portal has been developed to provide all information about the doctoral and post-doctoral fellowships of various departments of Government of India.
Singh said the common fellowship portal (fellowships.gov.in) will save the energy and time of aspiring students and startups by enabling a simplified and streamlined process from the submission of applications.
The portal will allow candidates to create profile and use the same information to auto-fill different application forms. Currently, the department of science and technology, department of biotechnology, Council Of Scientific and Industrial Research under the ministry have come together for submission of applications.
The minister said that soon the portal will host application forms for all other departments such as Indian Council of Medical Research, University Grants Commission (UGC) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
The portal, fellowships.gov.in, features a unique ‘eligibility-calculator’ which allows applicants to check their eligibility for various fellowship schemes.
“The portal bridges the information gap for students seeking details of different fellowship programs by bringing all the relevant information regarding eligibility and application at one place,” the official website read.
It also facilitates the generation of a unique ID called as ‘Common Fellowship Portal (CFP) ID’. “This allows a more streamlined and efficient application process, enabling the candidates to apply for available fellowships from this common portal. This portal will serve to visualize the data analytics for Human Resource Development in science and technology,” it added.
