CBSE gets new regional office, centre of excellence in Dubai

CBSE’s Dubai office will start functioning from the academic session 2024-25 onwards.
NEW DELHI : The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is getting a new regional office and centre of excellence in Dubai. The Ministry of Education gave the approval for the new office.
“Consequent upon the approval of affiliation committee in its meeting held on 9.05.2023 and ratification by the governing body in the meeting held on 14.06.2023 and subsequent approval of the controlling authority of the board i.e. secretary (SEandL), Ministry of Education, Govt of India, a new regional office and centre of excellence (CoE) is being opened in Dubai, United Arab Emirates,” said an official notice.
All foreign schools affiliated to the CBSE board will come under the jurisdiction of the regional office in Dubai.

The board’s Dubai office will commence functioning from the academic session 2024-25 onwards, CBSE informed. The centre of excellence will start its training activities after operationalisation of the regional office.
“Henceforth, the jurisdiction of the regional office, Delhi (east) shall remain the same except for foreign schools from the academic session 2024-25 onwards,” the official notice read.
In January this year, the board secretary Himanshu Gupta told Careers360 that Dubai is not the only plan and that CBSE is developing an international curriculum as well as looking to expand in Africa and Middle-East.
Last year, union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan had announced plans to establish an office of the CBSE in Dubai. The minister had met HE Sara Musallam, MoS for early education and chairperson of ADEK, in Abu Dhabi.
