Paper analysis from educators and subject matter experts indicates that the Social Science paper was balanced and moderate in difficulty, with most questions from NCERT textbooks. Teachers noted that the exam included a mix of direct, competency-based, and concept-driven questions, allowing well-prepared students to attempt the paper comfortably.
To qualify in the CBSE board exam 2026, students must secure at least 33% marks in each subject, including theory, practicals, and internal assessments. Candidates must obtain a minimum Grade D and pass theory and practical components separately in subjects that include practical exams.

The board may grant grace marks to students who miss the passing score by just one mark. As per CBSE rules, grace marks are not provided if the shortfall exceeds one mark. The CBSE Class 10 social science syllabus includes the disciplines of history, geography, political science and economics.

From this year, the board has decided to conduct the Class 10 board exam, twice-a-year . Under this proposed format, students will be allowed to appear for board exams in two phases during the academic year, giving them an additional opportunity to improve their scores. The move is aimed at reducing exam stress and providing greater flexibility for students to perform better. CBSE’s new system is part of reforms aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
