According to subject experts, the CBSE Class 12th physics paper was "well-balanced" and was "moderate" in difficulty, aligning with the expected application-based pattern.
Students found the MCQ questions required more calculation than expected. The paper had "easy" numericals, while the number of derivations asked was more. The case study based on Optics was comparatively challenging, while the one from Semiconductor topics was easier to attempt.
"Overall, the paper reflected a fair distribution of questions, with approximately 25–30 marks comprising direct questions and the rest involving arithmetic and numerical components, comfortably within a moderate range,” a subject expert from Modern English School, Kahilipara, Guwahati, Assam said.
According to the CBSE board exam passing marks, students of Class 10 and 12 need to score at least 33% marks in each subject, including theory, practical and internal assessments, to pass. They need a minimum Grade D and must pass both theory and practicals separately in subjects that have practical exams.
CBSE conducted the Class 12 Physics exam from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm, and the 10th exams for vocational subject papers ended at 12:30 pm. This year, the CBSE board exams are being held across over 8,000 exam centres across the state, with more than 46 lakh students appearing for Class 10 and Class 12.
Students who appeared for the 10th data science will have access to question papers with solutions and answer keys soon, from several coaching centres, subject experts, and also on the YouTube channels. Students will be able to calculate their probable scores in the CBSE Board 2026 physics exam using the unofficial answer keys.
