CAT 2024 registration date soon; eligibility, syllabus, question paper pattern

NEW DELHI: One of the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) will conduct the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024 for admission to the management programmes offered by the participating institutes. The exam convenor will soon announce the CAT 2024 registration date along with the notification, exam date, syllabus, eligibility criteria, question paper pattern, and more.

Besides IIM, CAT 2024 scores will also be used by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), SP Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR), Institutes of Management Technology (IMTs), Faculty of Management Studies ( FMS ), Delhi, Goa Institute of Management (GIM), MDI Gurgaon , and other b-schools for MBA admissions.

CAT Exam 2024: Eligibility criteria

The minimum eligibility criteria to apply for the entrance exam is given below.

• Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree with at least 50 percent marks or equivalent CGPA (45% in case of SC, ST, PwD) from a recognized university.
• Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification examination or those who are awaiting results can also apply.
• Candidates should have either completed bachelor’s degree with the required percentage of marks, completed professional degree such as CA, CS, ICWA, or Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of India (FIAI) with required percentage, or should be in the final year of bachelor’s degree with required percentage.

CAT Exam Date 2024

The CAT 2024 notification will mention the details on CAT exam date 2024, number of sessions, reservation policy, registration fee, important dates, and test centres. CAT syllabus 2024 will be made available in the information bulletin.

Last year, IIM Lucknow conducted the CAT exam on November 26 in three sessions. 88 percent candidates appeared for the exam. Around 3.28 lakh had registered for the test while 2.88 lakh students took it.

What is CAT exam?

CAT exam is conducted every year to test the knowledge of students for admission to a management programme offered by the participating institutes in the country. A total of 20 IIMs admit students to their Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP), fellow programmes, and doctorate programmes through CAT. Non-IIMs also use CAT scores for their MBA courses. The exam is held in computer-based test (CBT) mode.
