Bihar Board 10th, 12th Exams 2025: Rs 2 lakh award for topper; BSEB doubles prize money

NEW DELHI: The Bihar board has issued the BSEB Class 10, 12 date sheet 2025 today, December 7. Anand Kishore, Chairman of the Bihar School Examination Board announced the substantial increase in prize money for the top-performing students in both the Matriculation and Intermediate Annual Examinations, 2025, along with a significant hike in scholarship amounts for meritorious students. As per the official press release, the Bihar government will be doubling the prize money for students who secure top positions in the upcoming BSEB Class 10, 12 exams 2025.
The students who achieve the first five positions in the Intermediate annual exams (across Science, Commerce, and Arts faculties) and the top 10 positions in the matric examinations will be eligible for cash rewards.
BSEB Class 10, 12 Exams 2025: Prize money
- First Rank: The student securing the first position in BSEB Class 10, 12 exams 2025 will now be awarded Rs 2 lakh, up from the earlier prize of Rs 1 lakh.
- Second Rank: The second-place student will receive Rs 1.5 lakh, a significant increase from the previous Rs 75,000.
- Third Rank: The third position will receive Rs 1 lakh, as opposed to the earlier Rs 50,000.
- Fourth to Tenth Rank: Students securing the fourth to tenth positions in BSEB Class 10 exams 2025 will be awarded Rs 20,000 instead of Rs 10,000, while those securing the fourth and fifth positions in Class 12 exams 2025 will receive Rs 30,000 instead of Rs 15,000.

Apart from the cash rewards, each top-ranking student will also receive a laptop, a certificate, and a medal as tradition of recognising academic excellence.
Increased scholarships for merit holders
The BSEB Chairman also announced a major increase in the BSEB Deshratna Dr Rajendra Prasad Medha Scholarship, aimed at providing financial support to top-performing students and encouraging them to pursue higher education.
The scholarship amount for students securing the top 10 ranks in Class 10 exams will be raised to Rs 2,000 per month, up from the previous amount of Rs 1,200.

Class 10 top 10 rankers : Students securing the first 10 positions in Class 10 exams will now receive Rs 2,000 per month for two years.

Class 12 top 5 rankers : Students securing the top five positions across all three faculties in BSEB Class 10 exams 2025 will now be awarded Rs 2,500 per month, a substantial increase from the previous Rs 1,500 per month. The scholarship for these students will be available for varying durations based on the course they pursue:
- 3 years for those enrolled in a general undergraduate course,
- 4 years for those pursuing a technical graduate course,
- 5 years for students in an integrated 5-year course,
- Ongoing until the completion of the course for those pursuing technical diploma courses.
