Vivek Bindra Scam: UP doctor was drawn in by celebrities and business leaders who appeared on Bindra’s shows, were later listed as ‘professors’.
NEW DELHI : For the growth of his online platform, Dr Mohsin of Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha district enrolled himself in the Independent Business Consultant (IBC) programme of Bada Business Private Limited (BBPL) in March 2023.
He was attracted to BBPL after seeing videos of BBPL CEO and founder Vivek Bindra with Patanjali Ayurved chairman Acharya Balkrishna; actor Vivek Oberoi and other business personalities. In the name of business skill education, he only attended “online meetings” between March 2023 to August 2023 and was ‘scammed’ out of Rs 72,000.
“I did not have much knowledge about online business and technologies related to it. I thought it would be best to learn these skills from well-known personalities of different fields. They told me that they will help me in learning technology and promote my business on social media platforms,” Mohsin told Careers360 .
In the meetings, as he described them, he was taught only how to get more people to purchase Vivek Bindra’s courses, perpetuating the alleged Ponzi scheme.
“They did not teach me anything related to online business. They trained me to attract more people towards BBPL. Through calls, I tried to convince people to purchase BBPL courses. But, when I understood that IBC is a fraud and I have been misguided, I discouraged people from joining BBPL,” he said.
Mohsin is only one among thousands of alleged BBPL scam victims who have lost their money enrolling for the IBC programme. According to the complaint against Bada Business and Vivek Bindra filed with the Delhi Police’s Economic Offences Wing on February 8, IBC is a Ponzi scheme – a form of fraud.
No Refund
BBPL officials told Mohsin that personalities like Acharya Balkrishna and others will teach him and enable him to acquire business skills. “I thought that these people will make us learn new skills. But it did not happen.… They did not even refund me the money that they promised me if I failed to earn. I went to his head office but nobody responded to me,” he said.
He has appealed to the prominent personalities whose pictures are still visible on BBPL website and One App to issue statements against Vivek Bindra and take legal action against them.
Bada Business listed Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, executive chairperson of Biocon Limited, among its “professors” in promotional material. When this was pointed out on X, Shaw said: “He interviewed us for his show but we are certainly not serving as professors!”
Vivek Bindra: EOW complaint
A criminal complaint has been filed against Bada Business Pvt. Ltd. (BBPL) and its managing director Vivek Bindra, director and Chief Operations Officer (COO) Sunil Chopra and director Tushar Gupta with Delhi Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) at Mandir Marg, Gole Market, in the national capital on February 8.
A total of 46 victims or complainants from Delhi were physically present during the filing of the complaint on Thursday.
The complainants have requested the Delhi Police to take cognisance of the matter and register a first information report (FIR) against the accused.
Disclosure | The alleged victims written about here came into contact with Bada Business and IBCs 2020 onwards. However, they came into contact with Careers360 after its founder and CEO, Maheshwar Peri spoken up about the case on social media and other media platforms.
