Atal Residential School admission 2024 registration begins; 50% quota for girl students

Atal Awasiya Vidyalayas (AAVs) Admission 2024: Class 6, 9 entrance exam will be held on February 25. Know exam pattern and reservation criteria.
NEW DELHI: The Uttar Pradesh government has started the Classes 6 and 9 admission process for 18 Atal Awasiya Vidyalayas (AAVs). The last date to submit the application form is February 5 and the entrance exam will be held on February 25. The state government has reserved 50% seats for girls.
The residential schools run by the UP government were established for children of labourers, construction workers and those orphaned in the COVID-19 pandemic. Admissions will be based on the eligibility of students, division-wise allotment of seats, exam results. A total of 16 residential schools built at a cost of about Rs 1,115 crore was inaugurated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in September 2023.
For children of workers, the construction workers should have completed at least three years of board membership period after registration as on 31.12.2023. A maximum of 2 children per family will be eligible.
As per the reservation criteria, 27% of the total seats will be reserved for OBC, 21% for Scheduled Caste and 2% for Scheduled Tribe students. The ratio of total seats for boys and girls will be 50:50, the state government said.

“In each Atal Residential School, based on the availability of eligible candidates through the selection test in Class 6 and Class 9, a maximum of 140 candidates are to be given admission,” it said. There are a total of 2,520 seats for admission to Class 6 and 2,520 in Class 9.
For admission to Class 6, a student should not be born before May 1, 2012, and after July 31, 2014. For admission to Class 9, a student should not be born before May 1, 2009, and after July 31, 2011.
AAV Entrance Exam 2024: Exam pattern
Atal Awasiya Vidyalayas entrance exam will be held for two hours from 11 am to 1pm. Each candidate will be given a single examination booklet. An additional 40 minutes will be given for disabled students.

Class 9 entrance exam pattern
Atal Residential School Selection Examination will be conducted in both English and Hindi languages.
