NEW DELHI: Due to the coronavirus outbreak, National Testing Agency will conduct the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) as a remote proctored test (RPT) on August 18 between 11:00 to 12:30 PM.
The National Law University or NLU, Delhi, on Tuesday, announced the new AILET 2020 exam date and its revised reservation policy.
Law aspirants will be able to appear for the entrance test from the comfort of their homes. The last date to fill the application for the exam has been extended up to July 7, 2020.
To familiarize the candidates with the RPT mode of examination, NTA will conduct two webinars and a mock test. Detailed information and guidelines will be also provided to the aspirants.
Reservation rescinded
In addition, the 50 percent reservation for students from Delhi, 22% reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBC) in Delhi region, and the 10 percent reservation for Economically Backward Sections (EWS) has been removed for this year. The reservation criteria was challenged on January 14 in the Delhi High Court.
“The Hon’ble High Court of Delhi on 29th June 2020 has ordered that the “status quo ante as of previous academic year shall be maintained for making admissions to the B.A.LL.B.(Five Year Programme), LL.M.(One Year Programme) in NLU Delhi for the academic year 2020-21” said the official notification.
Due to the change in reservation criteria, the university has further allowed the candidates to withdraw their application for admission to B.A.LL.B.(Hons), LL.M. and PhD Programmes. Candidates, if they wish so, will be able to withdraw from their applications between July 1 to 7, 2020.
The admit card for AILET 2020 will be uploaded on the official website from July 27, 2020.
