AICTE asks colleges, universities to apply for approval for offering BCA, BBA, BMS courses

AICTE recently decided to regulate institutes offering UG courses in management, computer applications from the 2024-25 academic session.
NEW DELHI : The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has asked the Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) intending to offer BCA, BBA, and BMS programmes to apply for approval.
Recently, AICTE announced that it has decided to regulate colleges and universities offering BBA, BCA, and BMS programmes from the academic session 2024-25. The decision was taken to maintain uniform equality and academic standards across management and computer applications programmes on the lines of postgraduate courses such as MBA and MCA.
“In view of the above, HEIs willing or intending to offer BCA, BBA and BMS programmes from academic year 2024-25, academic session July-August 2024 shall apply to AICTE for its approval/recommendation to offer these programmes in ODL mode or online mode and submit the same along with the application to UGC for its approval,” AICTE said in an official notice.

The council explained that as per the UGC ODL programmes and online programmes regulations 2020, HEIs shall have the approval or recommendation for the programmes of the regulatory authority for offering them in Online and Distance Learning (ODL) mode or online mode while submitting the application to the commission.
AICTE further said that those HEIs which are already recognized or entitled to offer these programmes with any specialisation should also obtain the approval from AICTE and submit it to UGC for continuation of recognition of these programmes for the academic session July-August 2024.
