Agnipath Protest News: KYS protestors alleged that women protestors were detained despite the prevention of arrest of women after 6 pm.
NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police detained Krantikari Yuva Sangathan (KYS) activists protesting against the Agnipath scheme at Jantar Mantar. KYS alleged that the peaceful protest organised by them was disrupted by the Delhi Police and the activists gathered at Jantar Mantar were brutally beaten and manhandled.
The KYS protestors also alleged that even women protestors were detained despite the prevention of arrest of women after 6 pm by the law. The CrPC Section 46 (4) prohibits the arrest of women after sunset and before sunrise without permission from the magistrate. "The Delhi Police continues to display its dictatorial attitude as they continue to detain protestors including women at Mandir Marg PS even after 6 PM. According to the KYS, the activists on the Agnipath protest who were detained from Jantar Mantar were taken to Mandir Marg Police station. Currently, the KYS activists are on a hunger strike at Mandir Marg PS against the alleged illegal detention and harassment by the Delhi Police, KYS informed through a tweet. The organisation said that females were not allowed to leave despite sunset.
