96 Delhi University students complete summer internship; VC awards 10 best performers

Download NowNEW DELHI : A total of 96 Delhi University students completed the summer internship offered by the university conducted from June 10, 2023 to August 9, 2023. DU vice-chancellor Yogesh Singh awarded 10 best performers during the valedictory function of the summer batch of the Vice Chancellor Internship Scheme (VCIS) held at the council hall of the university.
The second, third and final year students of undergraduate programmes and final year of postgraduate courses joined the internship. The induction programme for interns was conducted on June 9. Students received a stipend of Rs 10,000 per month during the summer internship.

The selection process was conducted in May-June 2023. DU received a total of 7,000 applications for the summer internship. The selection of interns was conducted in two phases. In the first phase, a multiple-choice questions (MCQ) based test was conducted for the preliminary screening of applicants in which 605 were shortlisted. The second phase included Group Discussion (GD). Finally, 100 students were selected based on their additive score of SGPA, MCQ test scores and GD points. Of the 100 selected candidates, 96 students interned in 30 branches of DU.
While addressing the event, DU VC asked students to give suggestions on the ways of teaching and learning in the form of feedback. He said that students must have come up with ideas during their training period which is one of the objectives of the scheme. The internship scheme was launched for the first time in the university in the last academic session.
Last year, 113 students of the university including 108 UG interns and 5 PG interns were selected for the part-time internship and 106 interns joined the internship in 27 departments. The duration of the part-time internship was six months starting from December 23 to June 30. The working hours of the interns were eight to 10 hours per week and students received a stipend of Rs 5,000 per month.
