43 medical students test COVID positive amid fear of Omicron: Report

NEW DELHI: 43 students of Chalmeda Anand Rao Institute of Medical Sciences, Karimnagar, Telangana, tested positive for COVID-19, the District Medical Health Officer revealed on Monday, the Live Mint reported.
A report by PTI says that the students of the medical science institute had participated in the annual day celebration events recently. The college and the hostels were closed thereafter.
On Sunday, Telangana had recorded 156 new COVID-19 cases. So far, more than 6.76 lakh people have been affected by the disease.

Surveillance at Hyderabad airports
Hyderabad international airport saw the implementation of a strict surveillance mechanism, a senior health official reportedly said.
“We have raised the surveillance mechanism at the International airport in Hyderabad. The number of passengers who arrived in Hyderabad by air travel is 970 since December 1. 13 were tested corona positive. They were immediately shifted to a quarantine facility." reportedly said Srinivas Rao, Director of Public Health (DPH).
"The Covid situation is totally under control in Telangana. The recovery rate in the state is 98.18%. Hence, people need not panic, but have to be careful and attentive. Adherence to covid protocols is necessary," Live Mint quoted Rao as saying.
Since several festivals are around the corner, Rao urged citizens to follow the Covid appropriate behaviour while attending gatherings.
As of December 6, 2021, Telangana has 3810 active cases. The state has witnessed a total of 6,77,138 cases with 6,69,328 discharged. 4000 people in the state have lost their lives so far, due to the pandemic.
