301 young researchers selected for SERB post doctoral fellowship in science, engineering

301 researchers have been selected to work in frontier areas of science, engineering for 2 years and will receive monthly fellowships, annual grants.
NEW DELHI: Under the science and engineering research board (SERB) national post doctoral fellowship (N-PDF) a total of 301 researchers have been selected to work in frontier areas of science and engineering for two years.
These young researchers will be working under a mentor in an academic or research position at a recognised institution in India. This opportunity till provide them a platform to develop their skills as an independent researcher. The selected individuals will receive support through a monthly fellowship and an annual research grant.

The overheads for the host institution is broadly given in five thematic areas, including chemical sciences, earth and atmospheric sciences, engineering sciences, life sciences, and physical and mathematical sciences. The candidates who belonged within the upper age limit of 35 years, with a degree in doctor of philosophy (PhD), doctor of medicine (MD), and master of science (MS) from a recognized university are eligible to apply.
In addition, those candidates who have submitted their PhD, MD, MS thesis and are waiting for their degree are also allowed to apply for the fellowship. A total of 3,833 applications were received for the fellowship and were reviewed by designated expert committees and SERB working under the the department of science and technology (DST). Only 301 out of the 8,833 applications were approved and selected.
The national post doctoral fellowship was initiated in 2015 to support young researchers to become independent scientists. The fellowship has received around 23,000 applications in last eight years, out of which around 3,500 fellows have been benefitted so far.
